Temporary Double Classroom Buildings

With many schools facing short to medium term needs for additional space, Terrapin can offer an economical solution – a high quality double classroom ready for use in just five weeks from order. The classroom package is available in two options – the short term hire version and the enhanced version for longer term hire or outright purchase. Both options provide two teaching areas – each with a store – and a communal entrance. Terrapin’s rapid space solutions come with an appropriate array of standard or superior specifications and embody the proven benefits of factory built structures already serving the education sector across the UK.

Short-Term Hire

This version is designed for schools with real short term needs and is available for hire over one year. All of the 66 sq m teaching areas are neatly decorated, generously provided with windows for natural light and ventilation and ready for immediate use. Power sockets and lighting are also included.

Longer-Term Solution

The air conditioned, enhanced version for schools with permanent or semi-permanent needs is available for hire over five years, or for outright purchase. Its carpeted 63 sq m teaching areas have double glazed aluminium windows and six double power sockets. The 2.65m high suspended ceilings include an air conditioning unit and recessed fluorescent lighting. It can be specified with a standard flat, felt covered roof or the specification can be upgraded to a concrete tiled pitched roof.

Terrapin’s double classroom packages comply with relevant building and fire regulations and have a robust, maintenance free external finish.

Managing Director, says: “With our experience over 60 years we have made school building much simpler - involving far less disruption on-site than traditional methods, with fewer deliveries, less noise, mess and waste and lower risk of theft or vandalism. The packages have been specifically developed to assist the many schools which have their own budgets but inadequate time to address the problem of increasing numbers of pupils through conventional building solutions. Our packages can also provide quality ‘temporary’ accommodation for students while a school is being redeveloped or rebuilt”.

Both Terrapin double classroom packages are based on a five week programme which includes factory construction and all site works. Foundation works are completed during week three, with erection and finishing of the structure during weeks four and five. The five week programme is subject to factory capacity and any necessary planning permissions being in place.
