Terrapin Education

Sandbach High School

Sandbach High School were impressed with Terrapin and delighted with their new sixth form facilities, which were an addition to the popular girls’ comprehensive school in Cheshire.

The school had increasing numbers of sixth form students and needed purpose-built facilities in which those students could pursue their studies without distraction. A design was agreed following consultation with students and the school’s site manager. Then, in-depth research to select a building contractor with the ability to meet the requirements led to the School choosing Terrapin as its construction partner.

Terrapin’s off-site manufacturing technologies were chosen as the most suitable and cost-effective option. The decision was finalised after a visit to Terrapin’s Building Centre in Milton Keynes to view the wide range of modern construction methods available.

The versatility of this construction method lent itself happily to the pitched roof, ‘L’ shaped design which offered 340 sq m floor area, partitioned to provide small study rooms, classrooms, an office and a reference library.

Externally, the building provides a pleasing appearance, with maintenance-free cladding, double glazed aluminium windows and a pitched roof, carrying a 50 year guarantee.

Mrs Cath Bradshaw, Deputy Head of Sandbach High School, said, “We are very impressed with Terrapin and delighted with the appearance of the building. We researched the competition thoroughly and are in no doubt that we selected the best contractor for our needs.”

The students are now enjoying their new facilities and are no longer having to suffer the distractions of trying to study in busy classrooms or the sixth form common room.
