Offsite construction is becoming more and more common for the health sector due to the restricted site access and short time frames. Recent innovations mean that units can be non-standard and rely on sustainable technologies to reduce their carbon footprint. New corner-loaded modular units offer increased design flexibility and significant cost savings, both on site and as long as the building lasts. This type of construction was used recently at Lewisham Hospital where we worked in association with Kier London.
