Ashorne Hill College
Ashorne Hill Management College at Leamington Spa expanded their conference facilities using off-site manufacture construction techniques.
A short contractual timescale, continuing college activities and shortage of site space all contributed to the decision to use this form of construction. The college approached Terrapin to undertake the contract, and Terrapin nominated Corus Living Solutions, their licensees, to provide the fully fitted en-suite bedrooms.
The steel frame modules are manufactured in the factory with all interior fittings and fixtures, sealed and transported to site to be craned onto pre-prepared foundations. Together with the plant and laundry rooms and corridor space, Terrapin completed the assembly of the modules over a period of 3 days.
The new guest accommodation is in two floors, providing the management college with 27 en-suite bedrooms (including a bedroom for the disabled) and a laundry room.
Terrapin undertook the roof, external cladding, landscaping and internal finishing – completion of corridors, carpets and furniture – in time for handover at the end of September.
